The Affogato


Strictly speaking, it is called "Affogato al caffè" - "affogato" literally means "drowned" and refers to the vanilla ice cream.

In Italy, it is best to order an "affogato" or "affogato al caffè", but not "espresso affogato".

Preparation of the Affogato

The preparation of the Affogato is very simple, the following ingredients are needed:

And this is how you prepare the Affogato:

  1. Pour the vanilla ice cream into the shot glass.
  2. Prepare an espresso.
  3. Pour espresso over the vanilla ice cream. Either directly from the espresso machine or use a Latte Macchiatto Jug
  4. Enjoy your Affogato.
